20days to christmas 10days to akido exam 5days to ORD. Hmms. Countdowns seem so close now. Every year, Nov/Dec are my favourite months in the year, Simply because they are holidays , and Christmas plus New Year are in them. I always loved Christmas because of the beautiful lights everywhere.
On a Side note, Im left with 5days to ORD, Left with my ORD FFI, last few signatures to collect and my 2 years are finally over. Hard to believe since I still remember my first day in army 2 years ago with clarity, the drive to Pasir Ris station, the Penguin, The jetty and the staircase to the seats where we surrendered our Pink ICs for Green ones. And of course the Dragging of bags to my 3rd floor bunk. Compared to others , I really feel I have been blessed by GOD .
I really expected to Stay-in for 2 years, doing all the Chiong-here Chiong-there kind of stuff that I got used to in NCC, and suffer like crap, cut off from all connections to normal society/life. I remember desperately praying to GOD to help ease my 2 years while expecting the worst.
And GOD did answer my prayers, By providing me with excellent superiors throughout my journey, from PlatoonSgt Ismadi , to WO Koh who was both smart and cool at the same time and finally, Master Tang and 6AMB where the superiors are understanding and reasonable. And where the CO actually cares about each individual's person's perspectives and welfare.
Outings to places such as the ZOO, Air Rifle, movie outings , Innovation Month and all the festive celebrations such as Christmas party, Hari Raya dinner are what I remember most from unit. Which unit would send you to ADAM KHOO for a course, of all trainers, the most expensive one? All for the benefit of people development, even though we all only served for 2years each.
I would really want to Salute the phenomenal superiors again for providing me with such an enriching and immersive environment, where the people really do care and showing me that 2years is not such a waste of time after all. It all depends on where your priority is, and responsibility comes with a price, but also it reaps rewards. I dont think I will ever forget the outings with the AMQ people to watch movies such as TOYSTORY 3 together. Even as my journey draws to an end.
So, Begins the countdown to Christmas and then NEW YEAR. 2010 is closing, but 2011 is just beginning, I'll update my blog daily at least until Jan 1 , 2011. And heres an early MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR! to everyone =D
