Army is actually quite interesting, you get to do things you never normally would in civillian lives, eg throwing a grenade and firing at a range, meet people who you would never think existed and learn about the lives of others, which could be quite interesting.
For example, 2 days ago I met this guy who had chest and head problems, he was telling me about how he felt bad about not being able to celebrate annerversaries with his gf because he was overseas and in the army. And he told me he got a girfriend by accident. Im sure many of us would go 'Accident?' and so I did, and he said that at first they were first friends, then , one night when he sent the girl home and was walking out, he got hit by a bike, and the girl came running out, and from then agreed to be his stead. Unbelivable, movie and fairytale like story, but, it happened. I was truly amazed when I listened to his story.
I really feel I am quite blessed, due to the fact that we got the nicest commanders in the entire company, and a great mix of people, like in my section, theres the vegetarian, the bookworm, the sports-like person, the pai kia and the high-toner which the platoon calls a gay and theres me , the camo guy because of my pimple cream. Then theres the group of jokers whose names are at the back of the head of every commander, but they are serious when the need arises. Its strange, but we all mix together well and have a cordial friendship. Perhaps its due to the fact, we are all stuck on the tiny island with nowhere to go. Like in the movie, THE ISLAND.
